European Parliament vote on draft copyright report postponed

– The Par­lia­men­t’s Le­gal Af­fairs Com­mit­tee has resched­uled a vote on the draft copy­right re­port. The vote, orig­i­nally sched­uled for June, has been resched­uled for 28 Sep­tem­ber with con­sid­er­a­tions of amend­ments now sched­uled for 19-20 June. ∎

European Commission’s proposed new right for press publishers is mired in controversy

The new press pub­lish­ers right in the Com­mis­sion’s pro­posed copy­right di­rec­tive is a rad­i­cal mea­sure aimed at sup­port­ing a news in­dus­try in peril. The pro­posal may how­ever have se­vere un­in­tended con­se­quences.
